Okay guys, sorry I’ve been M.I.A. lately here. Lots going on in my professional life, which is a good thing. But I’ve vowed never to neglect Westcheddar. It’s my baby. So to keep you up on what I’ve been feeling lately, I thought it would be appropriate to just blam off in one post to catch up on all the dope shit out there I’ve been fucking with. Enjoy.

Kendrick Lamar f/ Jay-Z “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe (Remix)” – Hov hops on one of my favorite Kenrick Lamar tracks. Historic. As is the moment Kendrick was surprised with Jay’s verse by his boys in the studio.

Roc Marciano “The Professional” – Nicest rapper out.

Grizzly Bear “Gun-Shy” – Song is awesome, video is bugged out.

Wild Belle “Love Like This” – Off their new album Isles, which has a few joints on it. Smooth, reggae vibes right here. Track is so chill.

Earl Sweatshirt f/ Tyler, The Creator “Whoa” – Earl’s definitely one of the dopest rappers out right now. These dudes are great because they’re weird and they don’t give a fuck, but are also crazy talented. I’m rocking with Odd Future right now, I can’t front.

D’Angelo and Questlove cover The S.O.S. Band’s “Tell Me If You Still Care” live at Brooklyn Bowl – Would’ve loved to be in the crowd for this show. Damn.

Action Bronson “Compliments 2 The Chef” – Produced by Harry Fraud, off Peter Rosenberg’s mixtape. Sick beat, classic Bam Bam.

Curren$y f/ Jadakiss “Clear” – Kiss is still Top 5 Dead or Alive.

Azizi Gibson “Ghost in the Shell” – This is so dope. Azizi is a rapper on Brainfeeder, same label as The Underachievers.

Joey Purp “Don’t Stop” – Straight out of Chi-Town, this dude has skills. Nice cut right here.

Chance The Rapper “Acid Rain” – Another Chi-Town cat, down with same crew as Joey Purp. He’ll blow first, but Joey’s my dude. This song is hot, though.

AER “Take It Wrong” – I like these guys. Want to keep showing them love. Their new single is great.

Action Bronson x Sports Illustrated at SXSW – Had to post this, just off him name-dropping Marquis Grissom and Jay Buhner.

Wake Up Pranks – So foul, so funny.

Okay, I think that’s good for now. Been pumping that new Justin Timberlake album in the minivan with the fam, too, but my favorite song “Tunnel Vision” isn’t available for streaming online, so just go get that if you’ve been sleeping. I’ll be back on here popping off more consistently now so don’t you worry. Hope you enjoyed the blam. Peace!

*BONUS*

Blood Orange “Bad Girls” – Shout to Leah Rose, who put me on to this. Not brand new or anything, but nevertheless an awesome song.

Still The Best

News flash. Roc Marciano and Action Bronson are still the best rappers out. Been so fucking busy that I haven’t had much time to go in-depth here at Westcheddar like I used to, but understand that it’s after 1 am on a weeknight and I’m exhausted, but I’m still putting in the extra effort to make sure this shit gets put on the site. It has to. It’s too dope. Shit, the Bam Bam record has been out for weeks. WTF is taking me so long! I’m actually mad at myself, because this shit is sick, and Hot 97’s been giving it mad burn. As for the Roc Marc shit, well, he says he’s got the “crib in White Plains” on the track, which you may recognize as the intro to O.C.’s Lord Finesse-produced classic “Jewelz.” Man, just listen to these shits. Now. They’re both incredible.

I’ll get at you guys later. Got some more stuff I need to bless you with. Hope all is well. One.

This is dope. Even if you don’t like Drake, you have to admit, this is a great music video. I’m a Drake fan, I can’t front. I prefer his more R&B stuff to his straight rapping, but I like this song. The beat is ill, and his flow is on some next shit. I like it. Haters can keep on hating, that’s fine with me. But you have to admit, this video is really entertaining and well made.

For the record, I still knock Take Care on the reg. Hasn’t left the disc changer in the minivan since it dropped. LOL.

Sorry, I don’t have much time to talk. I’ve been crazy busy. My grind is insane right now, Westcheddar. But I gotta make sure I keep you in the loop. This blog is my baby, and I can’t neglect it. Just pardon me if I haven’t been going in hard here, but know that if I do take the time to post something up, it’s because I’m fucking feeling it on some next level shit. Like this new Local Natives song, “Ceilings,” off their sophomore album Hummingbird. This shit is insanely beautiful. Give it a listen.

RIP Bill Delanoy. A true White Plains legend.

One of the most talented young rappers in New York is no longer with us. If you read Westcheddar regularly, you already know I am a huge fan. The post right below this proves that. RIP Capital STEEZ of the Pro Era crew.

New Brooklyn

Uncategorized

I’m very excited about some of the young cats coming out of Brooklyn. Joey Bada$$ is the truth, and the dudes down with his movement are nice too. Check out this new joint “Swank Sinatra,” which features young BK spitters Dyme-A-DuZiN, Joey Bada$$, CJ Fly, and Capital STEEZ. Super dope song and video. Props to Plain Pat on the beat, too. And below, check out Dyme’s new video for his solo cut “New Brooklyn.” Love the Cymande sample!

These dudes The Underachievers are dope, too. And they’re all connected. Check out “Gold Soul Theory” below, and also an interview with them that features an appearance by Capital STEEZ.

Also, download the new Pro Era mixtape, featuring Joey Bada$$, CJ Fly, Capital STEEZ, and the rest of the Pro Era crew. Cover is tight, and from what I’ve heard so far, it’s legit.

DJ Premier’s Best Cuts

Uncategorized

My boy DJ ROZ put together this dope mix called DJ Premier’s Best Cuts, focused soley on Primo’s illest beats and scratches from his ridiculously deep production catalog. It’s definitely a solid mix to cool out to, with some original samples mixed in as well. Press play below and enjoy the sounds…

Larry David’s Thanksgiving Special

Larry David is the best, isn’t he? I fucking love that guy. He cracks me up. And this animated Thanksgiving Special he made with Funny Or Die is fantastic. Click the link below to take a look back at Thanksgiving with Larry David’s family in Brooklyn.

Album Of The Year

Uncategorized

This is the rap album of the year. Kendrick Lamar good kid, m.A.A.d city. Go get it. Now. I never was the biggest Kendrick Lamar fan, but I gotta give him his props. The Compton kid made a classic album. From the raps to the hooks to the beats to the skits to the stories to the artwork, he did it. I compare the first time I listened to this album in full to the first time I saw Boyz n the Hood. Same feeling. I’m gonna post the lead single off the album, “The Recipe,” because the beat is so dope, and Dr. Dre has a great feature rapping on it. But you have to check out the whole album. It’s a must listen.

Peep where they got the sample from, too. Great flip.

Please don’t sleep. Go cop this album ASAP.

Here’s some other fly Cali shit. Polyester the Saint “500 Benz.” Pretty ill.
