Been steady listening to this Flake Music cut since James Mercer mentioned it in a recent interview as a favorite from his early days. For those unaware, Flake Music was the band Mercer was in before he started The Shins, and their one and only album was reissued on Sub Pop in 2014. Check it out.
In a recent interview with Portland radio station KBOO, James Mercer revealed that the new Shins album is done and due out in January. Being that The Shins are my favorite band of all-time, this is extremely exciting news! During the interview, Mercer talks about writing and recording the new album, and also speaks about his musical beginnings. Listen HERE.
