Mercury Madness

Events, Music, Stan Ipcus, Videos

Here are some highlights from my show at Mercury Lounge this past Sunday. Check out footage of “Real Ganja Talk” and “U Already” above, and clips of guest appearances by my brothers Marlon “Moshe” Sobol and Matty B below. Shout to everyone who came out to rock with us!

Oh, by the way, this happened too. Here’s the most bizarre bar mitzvah clip you’ve ever seen featuring yours truly, Kosha Dillz, Flex Mathews, and former WWE champion Batista…

Hate It Here

Late Pass, Movies, Music

Gonna need a late pass for this one, pardon me. I’ve obviously known about Wilco forever and have friends that worship them, but I’ve honestly never given their music a shot. But the other night, I was watching Boyhood on cable for the 50th time (it’s always on!) and for some reason this song finally struck me. It’s playing in the car during great father/son scene where Ethan Hawke’s character is talking about how dope it is, comparing its production to The Beatles’ Abbey Road. Listen to Wilco “Hate it Here” above—great song.

Westcheddar Winter

Music

Here’s a mixtape-style collection of Westcheddar’s favorite rap cuts out right now on Soundcloud for you to enjoy as we head full steam through the holiday season. Crank this.

Ghost Story

Music

Ghostface adds a verse to one of my favorite songs of the year, The Weeknd’s Kanye West-produced R&B banger “Tell Your Friends.” And he’s right in his Wizard of Poetry comfort zone, rapping about a late night, high-rise sexcapade like only Tony Starks can. Enjoy.

Clue Classics

Music, The Good Old Days

ClueBdayblizzard

My dog DJ Step One from the UK recently scored a stash of old mixtapes, and slowly but surely, he’s been posting them to his site. His most recent gems include two Clue tapes from 1996, both of which I remember extremely well. Man, these bring me right back to senior year at WPHS. Click the covers to listen.

Suburban Politickin’

Music, News, Videos

I can’t front, I’ve always been a fan of John Brown aka King of Da Burbz. Dude cracks me up, and is underrated with the bars. His latest effort finds him teaming up with Mass Appeal for an ode to Donald Trump’s fourth wife, Melania. “Girl where you from Yugoslavia?” Haha, this is fun.

Double Droog

Music, Videos

Your Old Droog continues to spit infinite, witty bars. Above, watch him get busy on Statik Selektah’s Showoff Radio show over a classic Busta Rhymes beat. And below, he spits on some old Gravediggaz shit for Top Shelf Premium. Respect, Droog.

Gunn Shot

Music, Videos

Here’s the official video for Westside Gunn’s heater “Mr. T,” produced by Apollo Brown. I love what Gunn is bringing to the game right now. Him and his brother Conway are killing shit.

Hanukkah Heat

Music, Videos

Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings are back, and they’re pumping some soul into everyone’s favorite Jewish holiday. Check out the animated video for “8 Days (of Hanukkah)” above, and make sure you go pick up their It’s a Holiday Soul Party album NOW!

Bonus Round

Music

Automatic post anytime I see Roc Marciano and Action Bronson on the same track. Listen to Meyhem Lauren’s new one “Bonus Round,” featuring Roc and Bam Bam, with Harry Fraud on the boards and Big Body Bes with the shit-talk. Beautiful.
