Fresh Aer

Uncategorized

If you’re white, and you’re in high school or college, I have your new favorite group. If you’re not white, and you’re not in high school or college, you might feel these dudes too. Aer, pictured above, make the type of fun, pop songs that have enough hip-hop sensibility to make them okay to listen to. And their videos, which are shot and directed by Croton’s Matt Miggz, are very sharp. I like these guys. They’re just some cool whiteboys with talent that make dope tracks. No corny shit. Check out their two latest videos below…

Larry David Eats A Pancake With Jerry Seinfeld

Uncategorized

Jerry Seinfeld’s got a new web show called Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, and he had Larry David on as his first guest star. This episode is great because it’s basically just them talking to each other and making each other laugh without either of them trying to be funny. Think Seinfeld meets Curb Your Enthusiasm, or did you already think that? Can’t go wrong with these two. Oh yeah, Ricky Gervais is on the next episode. Enjoy.

Sixty-Seven Turbo Jet

Uncategorized

Curren$y is one of the most consistent rappers out, and I’m absolutely obsessed with his new song “Sixty-Seven Turbo Jet” off his Cigarette Boats EP with producer Harry Fraud. Actually, Fraud deserves the majority of the props for this one, because the beat is fucking awesome. I like slow, blunted, sample-based rap music, and that’s exactly what this is. Of course, Curren$y, one of the game’s heaviest smokers, meshes perfectly with this type of production, which is one of the main reasons I fuck with him. He has one of the illest, laid-back rap styles in the history of hip-hop. Listen to the track below.

Friends honor, when I first heard this song last week, I listened to it ten times in a row. And I still can’t get enough of it. This is my favorite song in the world right now, easily. Holler.

The Reggae Song Of The Summer

Uncategorized

I got emailed this “Kingston Town (Remix)” featuring Busy Signal and Damian Marley a month and a half ago to post on Complex, and it immediately became my shit. I meant to throw it up on Westcheddar too, but never got around to it. But now, there is an official video for it! So I gots to post this shit now, right? This is easily the reggae song of the summer. Straight dark, gully, Jamaican shit. Free Busy Signal.

Wavy Day

Uncategorized

“Waves” was the first song I heard by Joey Bada$$, and it’s still my favorite. I’m excited that he finally made an official video for it, which is kind of like “a day in the life” type look at how his life is as a budding teenage rap star in New York. Came out proper, too. Check it out above, and get his mixtape 1999 if you don’t have it yet HERE, and get familiar with his background HERE. Cheah.

Morning Becomes Electric

Uncategorized

I interviewed Electric Guest earlier this year for Pigeons & Planes, and they discussed the importance of having their music on the radio, and how “Troubleman” being on Los Angeles radio station KCRW helped their buzz. Recently, they got the opportunity to play “Troubleman” live on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic, which was a nice full-circle moment for them. I highly recommend you check out their debut album Mondo (stream it here), which is produced entirely by Danger Mouse. And of course, watch the live, in-studio clip above from their KCRW session. Cheah…

Brooklyn Bada$$

Uncategorized

I’ve been telling you all about young Brooklyn MC Joey Bada$$ for a minute now, and today, he finally released his debut solo mixtape 1999. I gave this a spin in the whip earlier, and there is definitely some dope shit on here. Those of you thirsting for that 90’s sound should be thoroughly satisfied by this, and impressed by Joey’s lyrical skills and beat selection. Get it for free below…

Harvard Humor

Uncategorized

Comedian/actor and SNL star Andy Samberg addressed the Harvard graduates this year, and gave one hell of a hilarious speech. I really like this guy, and not because we’re both Jews from Berkeley, California who were born the same year in 1978 and have last names that end in -berg. Okay fine, who am I kidding? I often think, “If I never moved to White Plains me and Andy Samberg could’ve been besties!” JK, but I’m dead ass. Watch above, dude is mad funny.

What’s Beef

Uncategorized

Pusha T released “Exodus 23:1” last week, and immediately had everyone wondering who he was talking about on the song. Lil’ Wayne took it personally, and retaliated by giving Pusha the middle finger on Twitter and putting out a diss track towards him too. Then Drake popped some shit on stage about Pusha at a recent show. But Pusha wins in the end, because he didn’t say anyone’s name on the song, hasn’t commented on it at all, and still has all these dudes pissed off. Check the video above. Straight hood, hard body shit. Great Biggie laugh sample on the track too. Ha ha ha ha ha….

Three Amigos

Uncategorized

Westcheddar loves crazy white rappers, and these two videos, above and below, feature a few of the craziest joining forces. Above is a collaboration with Action Bronson, Riff Raff, and Dana Coppafeel called “Hot Shots Part Deux,” which is an amazing song title by the way. The song itself is pretty dope too. Nice beat and sample. And below, Riff Raff appears again with his supergroup Three Loco, which also includes Andy Milonakis and Dirt Nasty, for their new song/video “Neato.”

Bronson is by far the best rapper out of all of these guys, and Dirt Nasty aka Simon Rex is of course a Westcheddar favorite. Milonakis is from the 914, so props to him. Dana Coppafeel (great name) is from Milwaukee, and actually is pretty nice. Then there’s Riff Raff, the most eccentric and bizarre of them all. He’s one of those rappers that’s so bad that he’s good. Both videos are excellent though, so check them out.
