It’s #WhiteboyWednesday, so you know I gotta come through with something special. Shout to my boy Mancini for putting me on to this dude Marty Ray’s cover of Vanilla Ice’s classic “Ice Ice Baby.” Usually not a big fan of covers like this, but I can’t front, he crushes it. Enjoy…
Videos
Bern Your Enthusiasm
Comedy, VideosLarry David hosted SNL last night, and this happened. Brilliant.
Island Bronson
Events, VideosAction Bronson heads to Jamaica for the first ever NyamJam festival.
Howard and Marshall
Interviews, Music, VideosIt’s #WhiteboyWednesday, so let’s celebrate by watching the greatest white rapper of all-time—Eminem—go head-to-head with the greatest white interviewer of all-time—Howard Stern. Take a trip back to ’99 and get to know a young Marshall Mathers, who was still fresh off the release of his debut album and on his early ascent to superstardom. My favorite part is listening to Howard bust Em’s balls about talking “like a black guy” haha so funny. Classic stuff right here, enjoy.
Dumb Delicious
Fly Spots, Music, VideosHere’s the trailer for Action Bronson’s new Viceland version of Fuck, That’s Delicious. Looks amazing, I can’t wait. Dude really has his own cable TV show now, so cool.
Armani Silverware
Music, VideosYo, this dude Chris Crack from Chicago can spit. Check out his video for “Armani Silverware” it’s dope, then peep his Soundcloud page for more fiyahhh.
D’Angelo in D.C.
Music, The Good Old Days, VideosI saw D’Angelo at Constitution Hall back in 2000 after Voodoo dropped, and it was one of the greatest concerts I’ve ever been to. But this particular footage is from 1996, and features him running through tracks off his debut Brown Sugar, and laying down some silky covers, too. Enjoy.
P.S. I saw my dude Preezy post on Twitter that he likes Brown Sugar over Voodoo, and I had to jump in and agree, comparing the two to Nas’ Illmatic and It Was Written. Both are classics, but…what do you think? Comment if you give a shit, if not just watch the video above it’s all good haha peace.
The Greatest
Music, Sports, VideosKING is an R&B trio out of L.A. that I just stumbled upon this week. They’re getting ready to release their debut LP titled We Are KING, and the first single/video off it is “The Greatest.” It seems to be graphically-inspired by classic Nintendo ’80s sports games like Tecmo Bowl and Double Dribble, which makes sense, because they definitely have a smooth, ’80s R&B vibe to their production. Love the harmonies, too.
If you like “The Greatest,” head over to NPR for an early stream of the full album. Enjoy.
Air Holez
Music, VideosThis is my favorite track off Conway’s latest project Reject 2, so I’m psyched him and Westside Gunn did a video for it. Don’t play with these dudes, they’re the real thing—and their producer Daringer is a beast, too. After you watch the video, check a new posse cut-style joint they just dropped as a bonus HERE.
Wu Goo
Comedy, Music, VideosThis is incredible. Watch Ghostface Killah as he gets on his Home Shopping Network shit to push his new Wu Goo hash oil and accompanying vape pen. There’s a legit rap song/video that drops after it too, featuring Ghost and Killah Priest. The whole thing is a trip.
