I missed the The New Edition Story on BET last week, but still got caught up in the nostalgia that surrounded it on social media. Which brought me back to this Bell Biv Devoe jam from the early ’90s that served as a reunion for the group, “Word to the Mutha!” I loved this song/video so much in middle school, and I’m glad to say it still knocks. I’ve always been a John Mayer fan—the guy makes good music. And his new EP Wave One has a couple really nice cuts on it. Check out “Moving On and Getting Over” above, which feels like a bit of a return to his Continuum days. And “You’re Gonna Live Forever” kind of reminds me of Tobias Jesso Jr.’s stuff, with John reaching for the piano keys instead of his guitar. So we finally made it out to see our old buddy Nick Kroll’s broadway show Oh, Hello. Yo. I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that we laughed nonstop from start to finish. Two hours of absolute hilarity, including a sweet guest appearance by one of our childhood idols Michael J. Fox. So funny, so smart, so outrageous. Congrats to Nick and his co-star John Mulaney on an incredible performance and Broadway run, and special thanks for making our mutual friend Kam’s birthday one he’ll never forget (see pic above).
